Local terminal: fix on Macs without Homebrew

  • On a Mac without tmux installed (MacBook Air), the local terminal opened and closed at once: the tmux shipped inside the app could not find the system terminfo database (“can't find terminfo database”). It now finds it, and every tmux command (local and from the other devices) also points at the system database.
  • A local terminal whose process fails right after starting no longer vanishes: the tab stays open with the message and the exit code, and “Retry” starts the shell again in the same tab.

Browser: a full inspector, Firefox style

  • Document tree with drag and drop of elements (before, after, inside), menu: edit HTML or text, attributes, duplicate, hide, delete, :hover/:active/:focus pseudo-classes, copy selector, XPath or HTML. Search by selector or text.
  • Hover and selection paint the box model in the page (margin, border, padding, content); outlines of every element, colour blocks by depth, rulers, area measurement, grid/flex overlay.
  • CSS rules edited live (toggle a declaration, change a value, colour editor), computed styles, editable box model, live editing of the page's CSS variables, grid/flex layout, fonts, animations (play, pause, speed), accessibility (role, name, contrast), event listeners.
  • Console with level filters, history and $0; network with type filters and sizes; detailed cookies and IndexedDB; new Performance tab (connection, rendering, resources); source with line numbers and search.

Browser: tools docked bottom, right or left, responsive mode, bookmarks, history

  • The tools dock at the bottom, right or left of the page (remembered preference).
  • Responsive mode: the page in a Phone, Tablet, Laptop or custom frame, rotation, mobile user agent.
  • Bookmarks (star), history with suggestions while typing, tabs reopened at the next launch.
  • Browser shortcuts (⌘T, ⌘W, ⌘L, ⌘R, ⌘F, ⌥⌘I, ⌘⇧C, ⌘D, ⌘⇧M, tabs ⌘⇧[ and ⌘⇧]), customizable in Settings › Shortcuts.

Web pages in the right mode, light or dark

  • Pages follow the app theme (automatic) or a forced Light/Dark mode (⋯ menu “Page appearance”, sun/moon button of the tools): prefers-color-scheme emulated, stylesheets rewritten, the page's JavaScript notified of the change.

Take control of a session open on another device

  • Account › Devices: every device of the account with open sessions shows a marker (terminal icon and count); a tap resumes the session here, attached to the same tmux or screen session: both devices see and type in the same terminal. Several sessions: a list to pick from.
  • Parc › My devices: the row of a computer of the account also carries the sessions it has open on other hosts, not only those aimed at it.
  • The markers are sized for a finger on phones and tablets.

Sessions

  • Name a session: right click (or long press) the tab in the rail, the tab's ⋯ menu or the tab sheet on a phone, "Rename session…". The name follows the session to your other devices.
  • Right clicking a tab, local terminals included, now opens the session menu (new session, connect via, link, edit host, copy SSH command, close, terminate).
  • Search (⌘K): open sessions are listed first; a typed word is also searched in the text of the sessions, and choosing a line opens the session at that line.
  • When the app starts again, the sessions open last time come back in the rail under "Previous sessions", with their names; a click opens them again (resuming the tmux session when it still exists).

Built-in browser

  • New "Browser" entry: web sites, dev servers (localhost:3000, machines on the network), HTML files of the Editor, several tabs, find in page.
  • Developer tools: console (with JavaScript), network (status, duration, copy as curl), inspector (pick an element, computed styles, HTML, page outline), storage (cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage), source.
  • The palette opens a typed address in the browser; right clicking a local HTML file in the Editor opens it in the browser.
  • Linux: the page opens in a WebKit window next to the app, driven from the tab (address, history, developer tools, WebKit inspector).

  • The keyboard button now actually opens the keyboard in direct typing mode; tapping the terminal while composing switches to direct.
  • Backspace and Delete on the software keyboard work in the terminal, including on an empty field.
  • Send a file to the terminal: session menu "Send a file to the terminal" and "File" key in the key bar (Photos or Files, SFTP upload to the home folder, quoted paths written on the command line).
  • Key bar: a settings cell at the end of the bar opens customization.

Security alerts in the bell, product news by e-mail

New

  • The bell receives the security events of the account, the same as the e-mails: new device, sign-in from a new country (with the flag), password, two-factor, backup code, Claude authorised or revoked, trusted device. Read at sign-in, every 15 minutes and when the app comes back to the front.
  • Settings › Account › Notifications: security alerts stay always on; a “Product news by e-mail” switch (off by default) saves your choice on the account.
  • A computer that authorises a new device of the account for remote access tells the server, which writes to you.

Server side

  • Security e-mails with country and flag, “new country” alert with “This was not me”, welcome, plan confirmations, account deletion, new-version announcement (opt-in, one-click unsubscribe), send log in the administration.

Custom shortcuts, undo and redo, account language

New

  • Settings › Shortcuts: every shortcut changes by pressing the new combination, can be disabled or reset; conflicts are shown; “Reset all to defaults”. Per device.
  • Undo and redo in the editor (⌘Z, ⌘⇧Z or ⌘Y; Ctrl on Windows and Linux), with two toolbar buttons.
  • Account language: the language chosen in the settings is saved on the account and applied on the website, in e-mails and on the other devices; at sign-in the app adopts the account's language.
  • The konsolity.com website, the app.konsolity.com console (plan, billing, devices, profile), the docs.konsolity.com documentation and the notes of every version online.

Improved

  • The “Data” database manager is opened by the data right (Studio plan).

Databases and a bigger editor

New

  • Data: a MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL manager in the rail, under “Editor” (Studio and trial). Connections in the vault (encrypted, synced), SSH tunnel through a host of the Parc, TLS, Test button. Schema on the left, Data tabs (sortable grid, WHERE filter, pages, cell edit on double click, add and delete by primary key), Structure, Query (SQL editor, ⌘↵, history) and Users (creation with generated password and rights, deletion).
  • Run (▶, ⌘↵) in the editor: saves then runs the file with its language's runner; output, exit code and duration under the code.
  • Debug: the language's debugger opens in the terminal tab.
  • Reindent (⌘⇧I): the whole document rewritten with the detected indentation.

Improved

  • Editor project tree: indent guides, filled tinted folders, animated chevrons, accent bar on the active row.

Reliable mirror on the computer

Fixed

  • A terminal opened from the phone did not show on the computer when its “My devices” host existed as a conflict copy: copies are absorbed and announcements re-pointed.
  • The “My devices” group merge is elected deterministically between computers, no more duplicates.
  • macOS: the app is signed with a stable identity; the keychain access prompt no longer appears at every update.

Bundled tmux, non-resumable sessions, redacted secrets

New

  • Bundled tmux on macOS and Linux: a computer of the account without tmux still keeps your sessions. Settings › Sessions also offers “Install tmux”.
  • A session opened on a computer without a multiplexer is marked “not resumable” on the computer and on the phone.

Security

  • Connection logs, Claude connector notes and the bell are redacted of any secret before being written.

Trust by account and “Always allow”

New

  • A device signed in to the account is trusted: the computer authorises its devices by itself, no dialog, with a notification in the bell.
  • “Always allow for Claude”: per authorisation, commands run without confirmation, logged and notified.

Fixed

  • An account signed out on the phone gave “host unreachable · 0.0 s” in a loop: the reason is now “sign in again”, with the raw cause and the real duration in the card.
  • A computer whose window is hidden no longer goes “offline”.

Device keys always written

  • The key of an iOS device could never be written to the computer's authorized_keys: the refresh no longer waits for a trust question.

Connection race and live progress

New

  • The paths of a host are tried as a race: staggered direct paths, relay 300 ms later; on mobile data the local network is skipped.
  • Progress card above the terminal: every path, its duration, its failure reason, then the SSH stages.

Fixed

  • A tab opened before a relay path arrives sees it on the next round.
  • “Connect” from the host sheet closes the sheet and shows the tab on phones.

New

  • “Remote access” on by default on computers; the active devices of the account are authorised automatically.
  • Settings: detection of a missing “Remote Login” on macOS and of openssh-server on Linux.
  • Failure reasons in clear on the phone: computer not listening, plan required, key refused.

Fixed

  • The “Remote access” setting was never read back at launch.
